AMS1 Data Centre, Amsterdam

In April 2020, the AMS1 data centre was brought into operation. In the second phase of the project, an additional 12 MW of capacity was delivered across more than 3,600 m² of data halls – in a record time of just nine months.

Drees & Sommer played a key role in the technical delivery of this phase. Unlike an office building, a data centre has to meet a wide range of demanding technical requirements. Alongside a complex power supply system with back‑up generators, dedicated cooling and climate-control systems were installed.

Because a data centre must remain operational at all times, all critical systems underwent extensive testing during the final two months of the project.
