New Care - Lymm. A Multi-Generational Community.

A new concept in multi-generation living and one of the first of its kind in the North West of England, the Lymm development, brings old and young together to form a vibrant new community with proven health, social and wellbeing benefits for all.

This site features a 66 bed New Care care home, 120 place Back to the Garden Childcare Day nursery and 45no Villafont Concierge retirement apartments.

Intergenerational development has been a key driver for this new development with a social activity programme in place between both the care home and the nursery.

Bringing together the best of care for all members of the community, this new concept is designed to offer the potential for children and the elderly to spend regular time in each other’s company which has many proven mental and physical health-related benefits including an increased understanding and appreciation of each other’s abilities and limitations, building tolerance and compassion, and helping the elderly remain more mentally and physically alert.

An example putting this innovative multi-age concept into action was how the scheme celebrated Global Intergenerational Week in April 2022. The pre-school children joined the elderly residents of the Grosvenor Manor care home in order to transform an unused part of the development, turning the plain white hoarding into a colourful spring themed fresco. The children used their fingers and handprints to create beautiful pink cherry blossom and daffodils and the adults using different brush applications for trees, greenery and colourful flowers in bloom.
