Digital Realty FRA27 Data Centre, Frankfurt

In the heart of Frankfurt, the FRA27 project is delivering a next‑generation data centre that brings together technological innovation and sustainable architecture. The four-storey building, with a compact cubic form and a discreet recessed roof level, demonstrates how advanced data infrastructure can be integrated into an urban setting.

Each of the four floors provides extensive server space, arranged around a U‑shaped internal corridor. Along the external façades, U‑shaped banks of technical rooms house the power supply, transformers and IT systems, complemented by storage, WCs and, at ground level, office space. Cooling units on the roof ensure the right climate in the server areas, while further technical plant below – partly within dedicated rooms – forms the backbone of the facility.
